Flying in February SAN-LAX-ICN-HKG...SAN-LAX on Delta... does DL have an interline agreement with OZ and if it does can I trust both airlines (please Buddha ) to get my bag to HKG (going to Hong Kong for two weeks; carry on only not an option) without me having to buy two weeks worth of clothes in Hong Kong if something gets lost...plan B would be to check the bag SAN-LAX, pick it up at LAX, then recheck with OZ in LAX...can just see both airlines pointing fingers at the other while I;m wearing three day old clothes and not smelling like a rose...winter in HK that time of year; also bringing warm weather clothes for Thailand so gotta pack for two seasons....Thoughts?

Asiana is part of Star Alliance (United) not part of SkyTeam (Delta). Unless your ticket is from Delta you will likely need to claim and recheck your bags on the Asiana flight at LAX.

It depends on how it was ticketed. As Christina H asked, is this on two tickets or one? One ticket on DL, you *may* be able to check all the way to HKG. If two tickets, DL will not book all the way, only to LAX, where you'll have to reclaim your bag and recheck with OZ, and go through security again.

If this is on two tickets, leave yourself PLENTY OF TIME to make the connection--LAX is a royal pain to connect between terminals (although DL arrives in terminals 2 or 3, and OZ leaves from the international terminal--they aren't that far from each other). Also realize if on two tickets, if there's a problem or delay with SAN-LAX leg you'll have little or no recourse with the international legs.

Yes, two different tickets...but the good news is i'm flying first out of SAN-LAX and I have allowed myself (5 hours) before my OZ flight...thanx all for the useful information.
Good luck. Sounds like you did everything right. If it's not too late, you may want to buy trip insurance which will cover you if the SAN-LAX leg is cancelled, and you can't get to LAX on time.
