She likely got many notices which she threw away.
Yes, but if those notices were "if you don't pay, you'll be disenrolled" then this wouldn't be an issue. I still think it's shady of the school to not disenroll someone who didn't pay for a class... it just all seems odd...

We, and the OP, have no idea what the notices that were discarded said. There is no point in speculating until the OP gets copies of the relevant correspondence.
