PeruRail cancellation charged 10% of total

My husband and I travelled to Chile to visit family before heading to Cusco, Machu Picchu and Lima before returning to San Francisco for a trip of a lifetime. But unfortunately while in Chile, we contracted a very strong Pharyngitis infection followed by a very contageous Cocksackie Virus. I also constracted an allergic reaction to the cocksackie virus which caused a serious Shingles outbreak over my body.

This determined that it was extremely detrimentsl to the public if we were to travel on to Peru, so we cancelled all bookings, and were charged various charges at each booking venue.

We had booked the a train to Machu Picchu from Cusco via Peru Rail on Nov 16, and called to cancel Nov 21 due to viral infection contageousness. They have charged us 10% of the total being: $330 USD, so charged us $33.00 USD, it might not seem like much buit we have been charged at every point of booking some amount that together adds up, and have spent hundreds of dollars trying to figure out what we have.

We are trying to retrieve this charge, having taken the correct steps to protect the public against further viral spread.

We need help retrieving our charges and wonder how best we can do this.

You’ve listed three different issues for the same trip and travel insurance most likely would have covered it
all. Our advice is the same- appeal to whoever you bought all this through. They are under no obligation to refund anything you prepay if you bought nonrefundable tickets .

This is a story hopefully others will learn from.
