Back to the original issue - why didn't they go through the process of each step it takes to get rid of the promotion - get rid of the box -2015!!!- isn't it 2019!
They do not recall items -- old stock can be bought by other companies and then sold -- that is likely what happened. They are not going to repackage everything --

come on - 4 years later! The company should step and admit their error and do something about it!
But the company Maxboost who made the product and had the promotion may not have made the error — there are a lot of ways for old inventory to be available.— if another vendor had the product call them Vendor A — and then that store went out of business — the stock of Vendor A is sold to cover debts — not returned to company for repackaging. Vendor B buys the stock of Vendor A for their discount store and sells it on EBay amazon or whatever.

Or Vendor A has the product in the back of the warehouse and still has the old packaging but the item is the same —

I do not know this company MaxBoost and I find the entire give us a review get something free a bit distasteful as the company clearly is hoping for good reviews in exchange for a free item.

But if the company has turned you down you can file a consumer complaint ... not sure if there is any other recourse.
