The AAA travel agent that booked it believes they will receive all their money back from Pleasant Holidays except the $540 for the trip mate insurance. The cruise was cancelled due to Covid-19.


Since the entire trip was cancelled would the insurance premium be refundable? They are no longer insuring anything.....

Insurance starts the day you buy the policy. You have been insured for illness, death in the immediate family and more up to now. If you have car insurance, do you ask for a refund if you don’t have an accident?

If the agent sold you the policy, ask if the policy can be transferred to your next trip. While most companies aren’t refunding, many are allowing customers to use the value for a new trip.

okay, thank you... I can accept that... but your example with car insurance is interesting... even they are giving some premiums back since they are not insuring as much.

They are giving discounts, not refunds. But you also buy homeowners insurance and don’t get refunds If you have no claim. This is how insurance works.

But definitely check with the insurance company and see if they are offering a credit.
