You wrote that you made the reservation on 9/12(date of transaction) but claim Hotwire changed the date to 9/15 when you put in 9/17 —

Like Neil I tried to make a mock booking. The default is the date one tries to make the booking— for me trying on 9/17 it is 9/17 not days later. Once I changed the dates the dates stayed.

You think Hotwire decided to change the date intentionally? I just tried for the following weekend and the cost is less than the $27 you got charged.

I tried to make several mock bookings at no time did Hotwire change the dates.

Is it possible you made a mistake? I am struggling to understand how you think this is a Hotwire fault.

And you are willing to have credit problems over a bill of $27.12?
ME: I dont think that Hotwire intentionally did this, I think it was a computer glitch. When I started this booking, it went through a 3rd party AutoRentals.com, it put me on to hotwire website. I had 9/17 to 18 3pm on my screen with confirmation and then take my details and credit card #................when I got the confirmation - here - it had 9/15. I dont know how it happened. Hotwire told me when I called to change that this rate was good only on 9/15 at that time and I would not get a refund. There was no prompt to inform me when booking that it was good only for that date/time. Some kind of alert would have helped me to see this and not go any further. I cannot prove this as it was on the screen. I know it was.......really.........and as usual closed knowing I was getting a confirmation email. It is a small amount but it is the principle of it all. After reading consistent complaints about Hotwires dealings with customers, I see I am not the only one..........far from the only one.
Read some of the consumer affairs complaints as well as the BBB complaints about this company. It is a shady outfit that I truly believe Bait and Switched me.

Katherine I wish you had told us that you searched through another website. This may be an interface problem with one website going to another. I have not tried a test booking yet with this site.

There are rental companies that do the hotrate over the weekends for 20-29

Your credit card may have been charged by Hotwire but you initially input the dates and location into autorentals.com.

This is exactly what probably happened. Again - when it took you to Hotwire, did you change the dates?

I tried re-creating this through autorentals and I still didn't get this happening. I had 8 different companies to choose from. If I clicked on AutoRentals, the booking came back from Auto Rentals, not Hotwire and it had the right dates.

I did click to compare Hotwire and it took me to the Hotwire account with the correct date.

If you started at Auto Rentals then the problem is from them - their interface with Hotwire might not work properly. That isn't Hotwires fault.

This is a perfect example of why you should book directly with a supplier, not use these third parties. We have spent hours on this $29 error.

Honestly - I would drop this. If you didn't go directly through Hotwire, the problem isn't theirs.
