You never should have taken that car. You should have gone right back and refused it because of the damage.

We have a thread tacked in the Car Tental forum about fighting a car damage claim.

Read that thread and ask for exactly what we tell you to ask for. You want the prior 5 car rentals to see if that damage was marked before you picked it up.

Agree with Neil. The bumper and stains are one thing but the windshield is another and is not only potentially unsafe, but in some areas can get you a ticket. For that rental they aren't billing you for loss of use as it appears the charges are just for the glass. However I would have asked for the inspection sheets for the 6 renters previous to you. A cracked windshield would be something most anyone would note either on pickup or delivery.
