I got this lame response from Expedia saying that www.cheapoair.com is too cheap for them to compete .....wow and Expedia don't have negotiated rates with airlines?

Dear Eugene,

Thank you for contacting Expedia regarding a Price Guarantee claim on itinerary 7265048391717.

We verified that "www.cheapoair.com" is a travel consolidator website. They act as a host agency for other travel agencies to get negotiated rates to sell to the public. They also buy in bulk or bulk airfares and negotiate airline ticket directly with the airlines and sell them to travelers at discounted prices, sometimes at prices up to 70% lower than the airlines’ published prices. Due to this, we are unable to process your price match request.

You can find further information in the terms and conditions on our site: "http://www.expedia.com/p/info-other/guarantees".

Kind regards,

Teza

In order to qualify for the Expedia price guarantee, it simply must be an apples to apples comparison. An Apples to Orange will not work, meaning the fare codes must be the same and Expedia must be able to recreate the booking. If they can't, you are out of steam!

Here is their statement from the link provided above:

"The Price Guarantee applies only to prices both advertised and available to the general public on an English-language website.

For example, this does not include rates offered on:
  • Membership program websites, corporate discounts or rates
  • Group, charter, rewards program, incentive, meeting, convention, consolidator or interline prices"
And here is the link where Cheap-O-Air identifies itself as a "consolidator":

well, but Expedia did not state that my booking codes are different, they just said that the "other" website buys the tickets at lower prices........but isn't it what called competition and that's what price guarantee should cover? I would be probably ok with "different booking code excuse", that one is lame...

Yes, CheapOair.com offers Consolidator fares under its "Exclusive" Label.

My fare was not under "Exclusive" label and therefore is not consolidated
