But she admitted to renting the car. He was an authorized driver. So he apparently never told her he had an accident.

"Yes I rented the car and used my insurance. My husband was an authorized driver."
lol, I was making a joke. Truth is, we're not entitled to know why he isn't addressing it. In my opinion, that crosses the line between person and professional.
