Rented a car from Avis Ireland for 5 days at Shannon Airport in October 2017. Drove to Galway and parked the car. On the 4th day while driving to Ennis to be closer to the airport for our early morning flight home, the car broke down. Avis send another car. Drove the second car to the hotel (maybe 5 miles away) and parked for the night. The second car broke down (clutch?) on the way to the airport at around 6 am. Now they are charging us for repairs on both cars - $3600+ that we did not do. I feel both these cars were defective before we rented them.
The credit card company tried for 3 months but they could not help us. Called Avis on numerous occasions to no avail. I feel this is a scam. Is a renter responsible for mechanical problems?
Thank you for listening.
