Thank you for the input.
I will try and answer all your questions.

Agoda charged my card.
I booked with customer service representative directly and not on line.
The hotel is part of a larger chain in Asia.
I booked my accommodations in August for our trip in November for 12 days.
We had to scramble last minute to find a same day reservation and payed a triple increased rate for it.
I attempted to discuss the situation directly with the hotel and was told to contact Agoda. I am being shuffled back and forth between the 2 without a satisfactory resolution.
While Agoda may have taken your credit card information, they may not be the one who actually made the charge. In most cases (but not all) it will be the hotel. I recommend checking your credit card statement, the company that actually charged the card, is the company that will need to authorize any refund.

I am very appreciative of all these helpful comments. I am a US Marine and because of honor I will not post names on this sight. But I will let you know that I paid Agoda directly. I was assured by the customer service rep at the time of booking that this hotel/chain was reputable. I do not have money to waste as I have a family to support and need advise to an appropriate and speedy resolution. Thank you again.
Have you written to the General Manager of the hotel? Agoda has charged your CC but you need to know who has your money. Am I understanding that you had a res for 12 nights all prepaid to Agoda? Or just a deposit equal to the first night's rate? This is a real mess, but we can keep pounding away until we figure it out. Contacting the hotel's GM seems like a reasonable start.

I don't understand what honor has to do with it. You were treated very dishonorably, and the hotel employing such louts needs outing.

I totally agree with Joyce, Maddog ... I just couldn't articulate my reasoning. The travelling public needs to know about places like this that will ruin a long-anticipated trip. I think it's honorable to warn the public.
